Since 1953, Golden Triangle Federal Credit Union has served the people, families, and businesses that help make the Golden Triangle strong. What began as a credit union for refinery employees has grown into a local, member-owned financial institution focused on service, trust, and long-term financial strength.
Our Story
Golden Triangle Federal Credit Union was founded in 1953 by employees of Atlantic Refinery and Pipeline Company as Atlantic-Atreco Federal Credit Union. Over the years, the credit union expanded its field of membership, welcomed new members and groups, and continued growing while staying rooted in Groves and the surrounding Golden Triangle communities.
Today, GTFCU continues to serve members with the same local commitment that shaped our beginning: people helping people, neighbors serving neighbors, and financial solutions built with members in mind.
A Local History of Service
1953
Founded by employees of Atlantic Refinery and Pipeline Company as Atlantic-Atreco Federal Credit Union.
1967
Purchased the credit union’s first building at 3700 E Parkway in Groves.
1985
Changed our name to Golden Triangle Federal Credit Union and expanded membership to companies outside the refinery.
1985–1995
Assisted with mergers involving Livingston Credit Union, Port Arthur News Credit Union, U.S. Steel Credit Union, and St. Joseph’s Federal Credit Union.
1994
Opened the 5211 E Parkway facility in Groves, where GTFCU continues serving members today.
2004
Received permission to serve underserved areas of Groves and Port Arthur.
Today
GTFCU remains focused on local service, member ownership, and helping members across the Golden Triangle.
